One: The First Chapter of My New Life In A New Town

Hi! My name is Rylee Hill.

I’m starting this blog to tell my life’s story. Well, at least it will follow my adventures or whatever as I try to figure out where I’m heading.

Probably not making any sense,  but I’ll give you some tidbits about myself.

I was born in Albany, but grew up in Saratoga Springs (New York). I was the only child. After my parents died, I moved to New York City and lived with two awesome chics for a little over six years.

Below is a street view of the apartment building I lived in with my roomies.

I worked for this retail store called Lord & Taylor. I started out as a sales associate but after four years I was promoted to API (Asset Protection Investigator).  In a nutshell, I made sure that LT didn’t suffer any significant losses.

The pay was great, but so was the stress, and the number of hours I worked each week (sometimes as much as 80 hours!). I burned out after only two years. I decided I wanted to make a career change.

But, to what?

I had no idea.  I still have no idea!

After long conversations with Darla and Lola (my two roomies), I made the difficult decision to leave the City, and moved clear up to the northern part of the state. To the mountains.

Last Friday was my last day at LT. Saturday night my last night with my girls.

Lola’s sister, Star, was also there. She will be taking my room.

Sunday morning, I was on my way north.

It took me a good six hours to get to Lake Placid. This is where I’ve decided to live. I found a small studio apartment not far from the downtown.

It’s a huge change from my life in the City!

But, here I am. Living in a small city nestled in the gorgeous Adirondacks.

I’ve been here just under three days and I’m already homesick for my roomies. I’d forgotten what it was like to live alone. Can’t say I like it much.

I’m feeling almost as bad as I did after my parents died.

I miss them terribly right about now.

Anyhoo…think I’ll find a movie on Netflix and head to bed early.

Ciao.
